Anthony House, Ms. Anthony is a numbered, limited edition purse–a contemporary version of Susan B Anthony’s trademark alligator bag. Gail Riggs, principal of the Abigail Riggs Collection, designed the purse and generously offered it to the Susan B. Anthony House to use as a fundraiser. The Abigail Riggs Collection is known for its stunning, one-of-a-kind purses and gift items and for its generous philanthropy and support of the community. The Susan B. The Susan B. Anthony House will launch its Purse with a Purpose—”Ms. Anthony”—with a reception and preview of the bag on Monday, December 13 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Mann’s Jewelers, 2945 Monroe Avenue, Pittsford. In addition to all revenue for the purses, a percentage of other sales in Mann’s on that evening will be donated to the Susan B. Anthony House.
Orders will be taken that evening for the handbag, or you can order now online. The bags retail for $250, plus tax ($20) and shipping, if necessary. The first 200 purses ordered between now and December 13 will be available for local pick up at Mann’s Jewelers during the launch party. The remainder of the purses are expected to arrive in early January. For those wishing to buy the handbag as a holiday gift, we will provide a gift card that may be wrapped for gift-giving, while waiting for delivery in January.

I’ve been interested in quite some time in purchasing one of the ‘Ms. Anthony’ Susan B. Anthony handbags…I realize part of the proceeds from sales of these go toward maintaining the Susan B. Anthony house here in Rochester, a very worthwhile cause…but was wondering whether there may eventually be a reduction in price from the advertised $250? I’m a native Rochesterian, and fully support the efforts & cause of SBA and would like to honor her memory by buying her one-of-a-kind handbag, however the cost has been a bit steep. I’ve had it on my Christmas “Wish-List” ever since it came out, but so far have not been fortunate enough to obtain one. One of my former coworkers DOES have the bag, and gets constant compliments & inquiries whenever she carries it. IF the price is-what-it-is, would it be possible to come look at the selection and buy in person, since I am local, rather than order online and pay shipping costs? There are no plans at this time to offer a discounted price. You’re always welcome to stop by the Museum Shop in our Visitor Center and make your purchase in person.
